Who these terms are between
You, or the organization you represent, and Mansfield Technologies LLC of Mansfield, Ohio. Using the site or buying a service means you accept these terms. A signed contract, purchase order, or government contract clause that conflicts with them takes precedence for that job.
The website
The information on this site, including the pages on standards, laws, case studies, and the blog, is provided to help you make decisions. It is accurate to the best of our knowledge on the date shown, and we correct it when the underlying documents change. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for your auditor, security officer, or counsel. We are not responsible for decisions made on the basis of the site without a conversation with us.
Quotes
On-site work is quoted individually, in writing, from the item counts, media types, standard, and location you give us. A quote is valid for thirty days. The quoted price is the price, and it changes only if the scope changes: more items, a different standard, a different site, or access we could not have known about. If the scope changes on the day, we tell you the new number before we proceed.
On-site destruction
- You provide safe access for the truck and your own personnel to witness. Destruction happens where you can see it.
- You are responsible for identifying the standard you are held to and the classification or sensitivity of the media. We destroy to the standard you specify; if we believe a higher standard applies, we say so before we start.
- For classified and Special Access Program material, your security officer's conditions govern, and your cleared or briefed personnel handle the material as the applicable manual requires.
- Rescheduling with reasonable notice costs nothing. If a visit is cancelled within 48 hours of the scheduled time, or the truck arrives and cannot work, travel to extended-range metros may be billed at the trip charge stated on your quote.
Shred by Mail
- Prices are per item as listed on the Shred by Mail page on the day you order, with a $59 minimum order, and are subject to change for future orders.
- You confirm at checkout that your shipment contains no swollen, damaged, or loose lithium batteries, no other loose batteries, and no hazardous materials, and that it contains no classified media. You are responsible for any cost, fine, or damage that results from shipping a prohibited item.
- If a box contains more items, or different items, than you declared, we destroy them and invoice the difference at the listed rates before issuing the certificate.
- A prepaid label covers one box up to the weight stated. Carrier surcharges for overweight or oversized boxes are passed through at cost.
- Risk of loss in transit stays with you or your carrier until we sign for the package. We photograph the sealed package on arrival and note any damage.
- Once media has been destroyed, the order cannot be cancelled or refunded, because the service has been performed. Orders cancelled before shipment are refunded in full less any label already purchased.
- Packages that arrive without an order reference and cannot be matched to an order within thirty days are treated as abandoned and destroyed.
Certificates
The Certificate of Destruction and media log certify the destruction of the items we received and recorded, to the standard stated, on the date stated. They do not certify media that was not delivered to us, and they are not a representation about data that may exist elsewhere. We retain our copy for at least the audit period on the certificate.
Resale and recycling
We never resell a whole computer, phone, or tablet. Storage is destroyed; parts with no data path may be resold only where your agreement permits, and you may opt out of resale entirely at quote time. Destroyed material is recycled through R2-certified partners, and we make every effort to keep it in the United States.
Payment
Shred by Mail is paid by card through Stripe at checkout, or by invoice for organizations that choose that option. On-site work is invoiced on completion unless your quote says otherwise, with payment due net 30. Overdue balances accrue 1.5% per month or the maximum allowed by law, whichever is less. Government clients are billed per the terms of the contract or purchase order.
Our liability
Our total liability for any job is limited to the amount you paid us for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost data on media that was not delivered to us for destruction. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. You agree to indemnify us for claims arising from prohibited items you ship, from inaccurate declarations of classification or sensitivity, and from your breach of these terms.
Your content and ours
The text, photographs, and drawings on this site belong to Mansfield Technologies LLC or are used with permission. You may quote and link to them with attribution. Reviews are reproduced from public sources; photographs of clients appear with their permission.
Governing law
Ohio law governs these terms. Disputes are heard in the state or federal courts serving Richland County, Ohio, except where a government contract specifies otherwise.
Changes
We may update these terms; the effective date at the top will change when we do. The terms in effect when you placed an order or accepted a quote apply to that job.
