A county courthouse, a state revenue department, and a federal field office retire the same kinds of drives under different rules: NIST 800-88, IRS Publication 1075, Ohio HB 96, and CJIS. What the rules require

- IRS Publication 1075State and local agencies holding federal tax information must sanitize or destroy FTI media to NIST 800-88 and document it for the Safeguards review.
- Ohio HB 96 and ORC 9.64Counties, cities, townships, school districts, and libraries must run a cybersecurity program consistent with recognized best practices, and disposal of retired hardware falls inside it.
- CJIS Security PolicyFor any office that touches criminal justice information: courts, clerks, prosecutors, and the IT departments that support them.
How we handle it
We quote from your inventory export, work on your schedule, and accept purchase orders, purchase cards, and invoicing. As an SDVOSB we are eligible for set-asides; see the government contracting page for our UEI, CAGE, and NAICS codes.
Recurring purges are the norm for agencies: a standing date each quarter, a truck at the same dock, and certificates that match your property records line for line. Retired election equipment, courthouse systems, and school district carts all fit the same visit.
For federal agencies and their contractors, classified media is destroyed to NSA/CSS 9-12 on listed equipment under your security office's conditions.
Buying from us
- Federal: a single-site job usually prices under the micro-purchase threshold, so a purchase card works; larger jobs fit SDVOSB set-asides and sole-source awards. We are not on a GSA schedule yet and are open to one.
- Ohio political subdivisions: most jobs fall below competitive bidding thresholds; a quote and a purchase order are usually enough. We are not yet on a State Term Schedule or cooperative contract and will pursue one for the right opportunity.

Yes. ORC 9.64 reaches political subdivisions broadly, and documented NIST 800-88 destruction of retired hardware is part of the cybersecurity program it requires.
Can you destroy voting equipment components?
Yes, once your board of elections has authorized disposal under state rules. Memory cards, tabulator drives, and poll pads are logged by serial and destroyed on-site.
